Hi Friend,
This week I had the pleasure of spending five days in a lovely vacation rental in Joshua Tree, accurately called “The Art House.” It had all the things - a copious amount of space, tons of natural light, incredible views of the desert, and sunsets that dipped into a seemingly endless palette of pinks, purples and oranges. There was a great room with a super comfy daybed and a huge reclaimed wood table to eat delicious food on, play games, and host multiple art projects simultaneously. There were so many windows, that even on our last full day, when it was overcast and rainy, the rooms were filled with natural light and dramatic views.
It was dreamy and surreal and incredibly relaxing.

We of course visited the national park. Being a fan of the U2 Joshua Tree album, I innocently assumed we’d also get to visit the place of their photoshoot, but did I actually investigate that in advance? Of course not! Turns out, it isn’t in JT (here’s a great article about the location and status of the tree, if you’re interested.) In any case, this didn’t stop us from fully enjoying a sing-along to the album as we drove through the park.
I also took a copious amount of cacti pictures fully intending to draw all of them (in that delusional state on day one of vacation where you think you will do so many things!), but happily pared it down when the daybed lured me into its piles of pillows for more napping, reading and daydreaming.
How was your week?
xo
