Hi Friend,
I was today years old when I learned that a group of jellyfish is referred to as a smack. They can also be called a bloom or a swarm. Did you also know that a group of buffalo are an obstinacy and the phrase “lounge lizard,” comes from a lounge of lizards? I could go on, but for now, the smack.
I tried some different painting techniques this week, and ended up with quite a bit more, shall we say, “unfortunate” looking jellyfish than I would have liked, but the one below came close to what I was trying to achieve. A very nice thing about watercolors is they do lend themselves well to creating an underwater scene!
In other news, the first drop of new pinback buttons and magnets are in my shop!

Pictured above are a few designs inspired by Cher and Taylor Swift, plus the movies Heathers and Clueless. Stay tuned for additional releases coming soon.
Next week I’ll be sharing a new downloadable coloring page from my coloring book project, which is a monthly perk for paid subscribers. If you’re not already a paid subscriber and would like to be, click to update your subscription:
Hope you’re having a lovely day.

I love them! These smack remind me of smack that are found in the Monterey Bay Aquarium. You make it look so real and life-like.
I can safely say that I first heard smack as the collective term for jellyfish a few short moments ago from yourself. 😆
